Who needs to be involved?
This is a facilitator-driven kit with two audiences. You prepare on your own, then run two waves: Wave A aligns your senior peers on the methodology, and Wave B is a working session where your hiring managers build real role-specific onboarding plans.
What will we have when we finish?
A documented onboarding methodology aligned by your senior team, a defined logistics layer anyone can reference, a set of role-specific onboarding plans your managers draft (each ready to run on a real new hire), an ownership map for who runs what, and a maintenance cadence. Your work publishes to your own Notion.
What does the kit actually teach?
How to design onboarding for the stretch from offer acceptance through the first ninety days: the five components of an onboarding methodology, what good looks like across them, and how to separate a once-defined logistics layer from the role-specific layer each hiring manager builds. You will learn to make onboarding deliberate instead of improvised on day one.
How long does it take?
This runs across multiple weeks, not one sitting, typically a three-to-six-week arc. Expect a few hours of your own thinking, a single Wave A session of about ninety minutes to two hours, a half-day Wave B working session, and an hour or so of reflection, depending on your team’s calendar.
Do I need anything in place before I start?
Yes. This kit builds on two foundations: a working hiring methodology and a working interview methodology, since together they produce the defined role and confirmed start date onboarding picks up from. If you have done Designing Your Hiring Methodology and Designing Your Interview Methodology, or the equivalent, you are ready. If not, address those first.
Is this a ready-made onboarding program or checklist I can drop in?
No. It will not name your HRIS, your paperwork, or your day-one account list. It gives you the methodology for making those decisions and the framework to keep them durable as you grow, so what you build fits your organization rather than a generic template.
Is this a training program for my managers?
No. It assumes your hiring managers already have a baseline of coaching and feedback skill. The working session is not where you teach managers to coach, it is where they learn to design an onboarding plan that lets good coaching happen from the start.
